New York City— The Florida Panthers defeated the New York Rangers 3-0 in Game one of the Eastern Conference Finals at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night.

The Panthers got a goal and an assist from both Carter Verhaeghe and Matthew Tkachuk, and Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky added 23 saves for his second shutout of his playoff career.

The Panthers now lead the best-of-seven series 1-0 with game two this Friday at MSG at 8 p.m. est.

The New York Rangers were led by goalie Igor Shesterkin with 25 saves in the 3-0 loss. This is the first time the Rangers have trailed in any series during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Panthers opened the series with a goal from Matthew Tkachuk to take a 1-0 lead at 16:28 of the first period.

The Panthers broke out of their defensive zone with a pass from Verhaeghe to defensemen Gustav Forsling jumping into the offensive play. Forsling would then make a pass to Tkachuk to the top of the left circle which would then beat Shesterkin

The score would remain the same until the third period when Shesterkin would turn the puck over attempting to clear the puck to Verhaeghe who then deflected it off Ranger defender Alexis Lafreniere. This would make the Panthers 2-0 at 16:12 of the third period.

The Panthers would then add an empty net goal from Sam Bennett to make it 3-0 at 18:41 of the third period.
